Some of my favorites so far:
If you haven't heard of Lady A, or at least one of their songs such as Just a Kiss or Need You Now, you haven't turned on your radio in about 2 years! They are more of a pop/country group who got lucky and were heard by a music agent at a show in their local town. Since then they have won a handful of awards and are HUGE in both country and pop. Recently they performed on Saturday Night Live , not many country groups can say they have done that.
Jason Aldean....somewhat of a new face but that's only because he never did anything to be noticed! This year has definitely been his year so far. He won Album of the Year at the CMAs for his album My Kinda Party. Jason Aldean has been seen as the artist to bring back the real kinda country that have been pushed by other artists of today *taylor swift*.
Won Male Artist of the year at the CMA Awards.
Has kinda been a drifter most of his career, a few hits every now and then over the years. In the past year however, he has been a co-creator for a popular show called "The Voice". His album Red River Blue this year is his most popular in a long time. With hits such as Honey Bee, God Gave Me You, and Who Are You When I'm Not Looking. In the past year he also married his long time girlfriend Miranda Lambert, who won Female Artist of The Year Award.
Won New Artist of the Year Award at the CMAs
A family group of siblings that have only been around for a little over a year. They have a type of vintage classic country sound and look to them. Their most popular song currently is "If I Die Young", based on the poem The Lady of Shallot.
Now this isn't to say that I am only listening to country now...just more than others.
